Overview: Collagen is deposited around a backbone of polylactic acid that is injected in areas of volume loss and remains for a minimum of 2 years. This treatment is not for someone who desires immediate results.
Expected Results: Volume correction on the lower and mid face, elimination of intermediate and deep lines.
Preparations: Avoidance of aspirin and ibuprofen for 10 days. Topical anesthetic is applied in the office prior to the procedure.
Post treatment instructions: Avoidance of aspirin or ibuprofen for 3 days.
Time to desired results: 2-4 injections are usually necessary to achieve desired results spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
Duration of desired effects: 2 years or longer.
Contraindications: Allergy to polylactic acid (extremely rare)
Downtime: 1-2 days of swelling, up to 7 days for bruising (may be covered easily).
